Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge

For the eighth year, Science Olympiad’s partner, Discovery Education, would like to invite all Science Olympiad Division B team members to enter a video in the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge (YSC). The contest deadline is April 19, 2017.

Three of the last four winners have been Science Olympiad team members — 2016: Maanasa Mendu from Mason, Ohio; 2015: Hannah Herbst from Boca Raton, Florida; and 2013: Peyton Robertson from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

The top award is $25,000, plus a trip to the 3M HQ, the chance to work with a 3M scientist mentor, and other cool benefits like a special prize pack for any Science Olympiad finalist! In past years, Science Olympiad has qualified nearly 50 semifinalists and finalists in the YSC. This year’s suggested Thought Starters for video submissions are Manufacturing, Energy, Safety, Healthcare and Transportation — topics aligned to all 23 of the current Division B Science Olympiad events.
